§ 6-223. Requirements for approval.

  • (a)

    Any applicant for a consumption-on-premises license must be of good character, and all managers, clerks or other employees shall be of like character or the application will not be considered. Corporate applicants shall be of good business reputation.

    (b)

    No applicant for a license who has a criminal record (except minor traffic offenses) shall be granted a license.

    (c)

    A consumption-on-premises license shall not be issued without first being approved by the chief of police, the building official, the city marshal and the fire chief.

    (d)

    The council may consider any circumstances which may reflect favorably or unfavorably on the applicant, the application or the proposed location of the business. If in its judgement circumstances are such that the granting of a license would not be in the best interest of the general public, such circumstances may be grounds for granting or denying the application, provided they are disclosed to the applicant.

    (e)

    No building permit shall be issued to an applicant for construction or remodeling of a building for consumption on-premises until the applicant is approved under this section.
