§ 22. Board of health.

  • The mayor and aldermen of the City of Milledgeville shall have full power and authority at the first or subsequent meeting after each election of mayor and aldermen to appoint five (5) competent and proper persons, resident in said city, who shall constitute the board of health, three (3) of whom shall constitute a quorum for the transaction of business. It shall be the duty of said board of health to meet as often as they may deem necessary, to visit all parts of the city and to report to the mayor and aldermen all nuisances which are likely to endanger the health of the city or any neighborhood. Said mayor and aldermen shall have power, upon the report of said board of health, to cause such nuisance to be abated, and its recommendation to be carried out in a summary manner at the expense of the party whose act or negligence caused such nuisance, or of the owners of the property upon which the same may be located, as the mayor and aldermen may elect.
